Fernando Barbosa, Senior VP for Distribution and Production at Disney Media Distribution Latin America, announced four series during the company’s screenings at the Disney Studios in Burbank, Los Angeles.
He announced the ABC show ¿Y Tú Qué Harías? (What Would You Do?), a sort on of fact show, with a hidden camera, that can be developed in multiple seasons, created by the journalist John Quiñones. “It is good for Latin America because it is good, pretty and affordable, and can be adapted to any platform,” commented Barbosa.
Additionally, he presented El Rey (13×60′), a biopic on the Mexican composer José Alfredo Jiménez, and also pointed out that they are going to be the global distributors of the series Maradona (20×60′), a co-production with Raze, BTF and Dhana Media. “Amazon will have the global and total exclusivity during the first 12 months and after, we are going to be in charge of its global distribution to all linear platforms.”
Another of the projects they presented was Secretos Confesables, a series on the life of Julio Iglesias, based on the homonymous book written by his manager for 20 years, Alfredo Fraile. “We are thrilled with this project,” for which they also have the exclusive distribution rights.
According to the executive, this is an important day, “because it is the first time that our strong first dish is our local production,” he explained.
