Disney Media Distribution Latin America (DMDLA) —Disney’s distribution and production division— and Pampa Films announced the production of a new biographic series based on the incredible life of the greatest Argentine boxer of all times: Carlos Monzón.
The 13 one-hour episodes of this drama series will feature the life of the Great Argentine Champion and his tragic ending.
Monzón is based on the life of Carlos Monzón, former world middleweight champion and one of the most acclaimed Argentine sports myths in the history of Latin American sports.
This Disney Media Distribution Latin America and Pampa Films production is already in the development stage. It will be recorded in Argentina and in some international locations.
“I am very proud to announce this incredible project, that will feature the very dramatic life of one of the true greatest Argentine idols, Carlos Monzón. With the series, old generations will be reminded of this great legend, and new generations will have the chance to know the idol,” expressed Fernando Barbosa, SVP and general manager of Disney Media Distribution Latin America, The Walt Disney Company Latin America.
“At Pampa Films, we are very excited and very proud to start this production together with Disney Media Distribution Latin America. We face the huge challenge of depicting one of the popular idols of the Argentine people. From extreme poverty to rubbing shoulders with the most important world figures, Monzón had a fascinating life. The series will show a history of overcoming the odds, but full of contradictions, which will make it difficult to remain indifferent,” said Pablo Bossi, Pampa Films.
