Discovery made a successful tour with the twins Drew and Jonathan Scott, the protagonists of the renowned program Hermanos a la Obra, aired on Thursday on Home & Health. The tour started in Mexico, continued in Brazil, then Chile, Argentina, and Colombia.
Carolina Lightcap, EVP and Chief Content Officer at Discovery Networks Latin America/US Hispanic, commented that the signal, since Discovery bought Scripps Networks has a huge amount of contents to be launched in the home, cooking, fashion, and health genres, and announced that they are working on several original productions that will be aired at the end of this year and the beginning of next year.
She added that for some time, all the launches, both of original productions and canned products have a multiplatform strategy and transmedia contents are generated for all the media where they are present, such as social networks, websites, and linear, and that they are always creating specific contents for each platform.
For the time being, the company does not have an OTT in the region but has an app for Discovery Kids Play, and discovery.com, a portal with all the novelties of the channels with clips unique moments of all the programs, characters, and series, as well as some chosen episodes.
The executive sees the industry in constant evolution and change and all the companies are always seeing what they have to do to evolve ahead of the market and “this is what we are doing, like everyone.”
