Discovery announced the arrival in Latin America of the documentary Niños en la Frontera, starting April 25 at 9pm, which strengthens the signal´s screen. They are currently developing new original productions in the region, mainly in Mexico, where they will produce the local version of Wedding Dress and a historical docudrama.

Michela Giorelli, Production and Development VP at Discovery Networks Latin America/US Hispanic, announced that documentaries like Niños sin Frontera are the topics that interest the audience today, in the context of current social and political events. “This year, particularly, with what is going on in the world, these are the topics that work well. We are producing other migration topics that we cannot share yet, but for which we have already advanced up to half of the research necessary.”

He explained that they are working on a digital series that will cover migration topics, extracted from this program, as well as others they have already made, and those that are in preparation.

In original production, he mentioned the production of the fifth season of Mexicánicos, “the channel’s number one series in Mexico and the US,” he stated, as well as the Mexican version of Wedding Dress for Discovery Home & Health.

Niños en la Frontera presents three real cases of families that travel from El Salvador, Mexico and Honduras to reunite with their parents or siblings in the US, and documents step by step the journey and the attempt to change their luck.
