Discovery: Mexicánicos promotes production in Mexico for the world

Mexicánicos (8×60’), the new original production shot in Mexico by Discovery Channel, premiered on October 28th at 11pm. Allan Navarrete, EVP and General Director of Discovery Networks Mexico, Central America and Colombia, told PRODU this show is an example of the content that can be produced in Mexico with international appeal, a subject he discussed at the last edition of Mipcom.“It’s a new undertaking. We invested a lot in production, but it has the Discovery seal and is a window to continue producing for the region from Mexico. The series is shot in HD, with the latest film technology. Generally speaking, when we produce something in this country, it’s relevant to markets like U.S. Hispanic, and we hope this is the case for this series, because that is a big audience for us,” said Navarrete.He said that in its recent participation on the discussion panel that included El Mall and Azteca, among others, there was an emphasis towards continuing to produce locally, “because there are great opportunities to generate contacts and leverage technology, because there is talent and creativity, and with shows like Mexicánicos we have pushed to reach a level of production like we see in Argentina and Colombia,”Mexicánicos showcases the engineering and creative challenges auto mechanic Martín Vaca and his collaborators face in the transformation of unique and surprising cars.
