DIRECTV announced the launch of a 4K Ultra High Definition (UHD) channel for Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, and Uruguay. It will offer live and recorded content with a variety of genres that include sports, series, documentaries, and trends, among others.
After airing the Premier League game between Manchester City and Swansea on Sunday, April 22, that became DIRECTV 4K UHD’s first live broadcast, they will add a new benchmark by offering an exclusive on 4K UHD, the Spanish classic from LaLiga, a game in which the Barcelona FC meets Real Madrid next Sunday, May 6.
Additionally, there will be other games from the Spanish championship and Premier League, as well as the UEFA Champions League final, that DIRECTV will offer together with ESPN on May 26. They will also air all the Russia FIFA World Cup matches.
The sports content will be accompanied by programming from diverse distributors like Discovery, Principal Media, K2, Vubiquity and Big Media. DIRECTV will also offer in this resolution, original programming, such as the series they will launch July 15 on OnDIRECTV based on the novel El Fútbol No Es Así.
