In the year David Ríos has been head of Dailymotion for Latin America and US Hispanic, the company has consolidated around 30 content agreements with important companies like Imagen Televisión, Milenio, MVS Noticias, Kiwi Limón, Pronto magazine from Argentina, Colorvisión from Dominican Republic, Teletica from Costa Rica, El Nacional in Venezuela and Panamericana in Peru, First Media Group, BabyFirst TV, Pongalo, Chapintv and Revista Cambio, just to mention a few.

He stated, “Dailymotion is the second biggest digital video platform in the world,” and clarifies that YouTube and Facebook have around 80% of the market. “With the acquisition of local content and with marketing, the intention is to raise the numbers. We are in second place but with zero promotion. Besides, we are drifting away from user-generated content and developing relations with premium-content companies,” he adds.

Ríos comments that there are three stages for expansion in the region and they are currently in the first that is the acquisition of contents in four verticals: music, sports, news, and entertainment. The second stage will be the marketing plan and in two years, the third that would be the co-creation of original content.

Some of the characteristics they are seeking in potential partners are: for them to be experts in the creation of contents for digital consumption, that they have variety and quality and for them to be well-known brands with media presence.

“Dailymotion complements the monetization and audience strategy that clients already have with YouTube and Facebook. We add an additional audience and monetization point with more flexibility,” he expressed.
