Comcast announced that they had started to integrate Netflix on their X1 platform as a beta test, available in the next days only with an invitation that the X1 client will receive directly.
That way chosen users can find the Netflix application on the Comcast Labs section, which will provide access to apps and services before their commercial launching.
The Netflix Beta Program has been a joint work of the teams in both companies, with the purpose of assuring that everything works correctly before formally launching the service for the millions of X1 clients in the next months.
In statements to the investors in a conference organized by Goldman Sachs, Brian Roberts, Chairman and CEO of Comcast Corporation, pointed out: “Our organization has made the conscious decision to add content from other people, some of which we are going to sell directly and others not.”
This integration agreement between Comcast and Netflix was announced in to advance the plans to offer the popular OTT service in X1 later this year (2016).
The goal is to allow X1 and Netflix clients to see, live, on-demand, DVR and Netflix programming from a same place, with integrated voice control and universal search, among other services.
