Exatlón EE UU, which broadcasts Telemundo in the US from Monday to Friday between 7 and 9pm and Sundays from 7 to 10pm, is one of the most challenging shows in the career of Francisco “Cisco” Suárez, EVP of Primetime Realities and Specials of NBCUniversal Telemundo Enterprises.
“In all the years (40) I’ve been doing TV; this show is one of the biggest and most satisfying challenges I’ve had in my career. It is an example of the innovations that Telemundo has brought to the TV in Spanish in the US: two hours from Monday to Friday and two hours on Sunday, and we can see the results. It’s a show that the whole family watches” said Suárez, who announced a second season of the reality show.
“We already begin promoting the second edition. Those who are interested in participate can go to Exatlon.com”, he said. The auditions will begin soon and they are evaluating locations. Some 200 people are working in its production.
For the Venezuelan Erasmo Provenza, anchor of Exatlón EE UU, it is the first time he hosts a show of this style. He previously served as a sports commentator. “I think it was crucial to have the knowledge of sports. I was an instructor and sports journalism coach with experience in radio. That ability to describe in detail what happens has helped me a lot” he said.
He stressed that the show breaks the mold of traditional realities and is suitable for families, what has promoted co-viewing.
