Cinelatino is celebrating the 2018 FIFA World Cup by programming an exciting lineup of hit soccer-themed movies throughout the month of June, including the premieres of two soccer-themed films; exclusive pay-TV premiere of award-winning Brazilian crime dramedy Jules y Dolores, an exclusive U.S. premiere of Peruvian hit Once Machos which will premiere on June 10th and 17th at 11pm ET /8pm PT respectively, as part of Cinelatino’s Domingo Estelar block.

“The world will be in a soccer craze this summer, as all eyes will be on Russia and the World Cup, and we are thrilled to join in excitement by offering our viewers the biggest soccer-themed movies from Latin America all month long,” said Jim McNamara, Vice Chairman of Hemisphere Media Group, Inc., Cinelatino’s parent company.

Among the soccer-themed movies that will air on Cinelatino are:

-Jules y Dolores: inspired by the 1983 theft of the Jules Rimet (World Cup) Trophy from the Brazilian Football Association’s headquarters, this crime dramedy follows a down-on-his-luck gambler who decides to steal the trophy with a friend so they can sell it.
Once Machos: a heartwarming film about soccer, teamwork, and friendship. The inspirational 2017 Peruvian comedy tells the story of eleven soccer-obsessed friends and the hilarity that ensues when they decide to toe up against a professional soccer team in an effort to save their beloved neighborhood from becoming a shopping center.
Pasos de Héroe: Based on real events, Pasos de Héroe tells the story of Eduardo, a 10-year-old boy who, despite losing his leg in the ongoing armed conflict in Colombia, is determined to form a soccer team and enter his town’s local tournament.
Entrenando a Mi Papá: Mauricio Islas, Adriana Barraza and Mauricio Ochmann star in this uplifting film about a widowed and aimless professional soccer player whose daughter devises a plan to get him back in the game.
La H no es Muda: A behind-the-scenes look at the Honduran National Soccer Team and their journey to the 2014 FIFA World Cup.
Celeste: a Bolivian drama where a highly superstitious creative director and soccer fanatic on the brink of bankruptcy believes he has found the answer to all his financial problems after meeting a gorgeous woman at a bar who he’s convinced is his lucky charm.
