Christian Tappan, actor, and producer of Guannaby Films was on #PRODUprimetime with Richard Izarra to talk about his company, which generates original content and was born adult and wise because its initial founder and partner Thiago Correa and Luis Emilio Guzmán, are renowned Latin American actors and writers.
GUANNABY FILMS
“It was born in the middle of the pandemic, after the release of Primate. We started to see the possibility of creating more and began to make more content during the pandemic. We are prepared to make a lot of content in different genres, there are a lot of directors, a lot of writers, a lot of very talented people to make it a come true” said Tappan.
He also added that luckily the doors of the industry are open for them to take their stories, but they also have the capability to take the contents of those who are making a name for themselves.
“We have a division in which we accompany the projects, where we place a junior writer to develop [his talent]. After we all get together in a writer’s room and see what is good and that way starts to give life to and grow the project”.
Regarding the name, Guannaby, Tappan says it is about seeing things with fresh eyes, and being a little calmer when creating stories. “Nowadays, it is extremely hard to get to have a name in order to be in such a huge and competed for industry”.
PRIMATE FROM MEDIAPRO STUDIO FOR PRIME VIDEO
Primate is the series in which Christian Tappan becomes creator, executive producer, and protagonist, and Guannaby plays an essential role, not only in what refers to contracts but also in supporting the idea and for creation to be full circle.
“That is how we try for all the products to have an executive producer from our side, an experienced showrunner who can work, who can be part of the writing process, part of the development so that they have this accompaniment until it airs”.
ORIGINAL PROJECTS
From Guannaby they have two projects in preproduction and one in gestation. “We currently have a pipeline with some 11 additional stories. We quietly devoted ourselves all this year to creating content to present. We do not receive everything, many people have called and contacted us”.
Within that vision, as a company, Christian Tappan estimates to make a complete project in the mid-term, to consolidate the company, even more, surrounded by the best talent.
