BuenaVisión, a new cable and open-air TV channel for the Hispanic community in New York is set to launch on April 1st.Founder Carlos Barba, an entrepreneur with over 52 years of television experience, is launching this new venture in partnership with Roberto and Luis Isaías of Gamavisión Ecuador.BuenaVisións programming comes mainly from a 10-year contract with Dominican channel ColorVisión, as well as Channel 13 of Puerto Rico and other contributors.Bob Watson, President of Time Warner Programming, is working as a consultant and has supported the channels cable distribution.ColorVisión will provide 12 hours of programming to the grid of BuenaVisión, with cooking, news, comedy, and music shows. BuenaVisión will produce concerts, neighborhood parties, one-minute vignettes featuring local and visiting Hispanic celebrities (artists, politicians, athletes), as well as greetings and interviews of Hispanics around the New York City.We want our channel to be the peoples channel. The backdrop will be New York and our audience will be the protagonist. No telenovelas or dramas, only happiness, said Barba.He hopes, in a few years, the channel becomes a Hispanic network for the U.S. East Coast and the Caribbean. Barba continues to be a partner in CaribeVisión, with a 17% stake.
