El Rey, Vicente Fernández marks the beginning of a new chapter in the history of Caracol Television, as it represents becoming an international content producer. “What better way to open this new path than by telling the epic of the greatest representative of Mexican music and one of the icons of Latin American pop culture?” said Gonzalo Córdoba, president of the Colombian network.
According to Córdoba, more than ten years ago, the channel’s shareholders gave them the mandate to turn Caracol Television into a global brand, the first Spanish-language television producer. “It has been a long road that began with the sale of our cans, then our formats, co-production agreements, and the making of series for digital platforms, until we produced the first series made in a foreign territory,” he said.
“For us, it is a source of pride that the Fernández family placed their trust in Caracol so we are the ones who tell the world about the extraordinary life of El Charro de Huentitán, and we feel proud for bringing together the best possible team to carry out this unforgettable production” he added.
For the president of Caracol Television, the successful premiere of El Rey, Vicente Fernández “is not just a launch, but the beginning of something that will take us closer to the mandate we received and that will make us the most important Spanish-speaking content brand and in the near future, in a relevant brand in markets in other languages”.
