The challenges that pay TV operators face to reinvent TV in Latin America was the initial panel of the NexTV CEO´s Summit Latin America, held in the St. Regis Bal Harbour Resort in Miami.Ariel Barlaro, from Dataxis Latin America was the moderator and the participants were Tom Wirth, Senior VP Media, Events and Latin America at Nagra; Saúl Kattan Cohen, President of Empresa de Telecomunicaciones de Bogotá (ETB); Carlos Moltini, CEO, Cablevisión Argentina; Eduardo Stigol, CEO Inter Venezuela and Steve Oetegenn, President of Verimatrix.Talking about challenges the future poses, Moltini from Cablevisión Argentina said that consolidation of companies will continue. Kattan from ETB assured that DTH in Latin America will continue to be important, but not as much in big cities as in small ones. At least Bogota will have increasingly more comprehensive operators, with à la carte services from TV everywhere, but it doesn´t operate in remote places. However, DTH does, he stated.Moltini said that they have been working on their OTT platform for three years, and that it will be ready in 2016. By March we will be performing the beta test in second and third screens so that we can be in homes by October. The aim is to have an experience similar to the rest of OTTs, but much richer in content. We are going to have streaming from linear channels. The platform will have news, sports, live channels, and all the film library and entertainment series we have.
