Blim TV: Niche platforms and local content like ours will remain relevant

Panel Iberseries con Vanessa Rosas

For Vanessa Rosas, COO of Blim TV, niche streaming services and those with local content will continue to be relevant in the future.

“In this world where many aggregators are already emerging, those who want to compete with the large platforms at the same level will disappear, it is very difficult because there is not enough money. If you go for a specific niche, platforms like ours will have a future,” said Rosas during her participation in Iberseries Platino Industria during the talk “Conversation with Blim TV, Filmin & Starz: New Production Models.”

The panel also included Mireia Acosta, Starz Development consultant and Jaume Ripoll, co-founder, editorial and Development director of Filmin. Acosta mentioned that Starzplay has plans to make two series per year in Spain that afterwards can travel on a global scale. Ripoll mentioned that they are about to release their first original series titled Doctor Portuondo, based on the book of the same name by Carlo Padial. He mentioned that they are looking for an international representative for distribution in other markets. He added that in a week they will announce the second original series, a docuseries about the word of art.

This year Blim TV is dedicated to present exclusive films. “They are not ours, the IP belongs to the producer,” Rosas said. This was the case of Los Días que no Estuve and two animated films that are about to be released: Catalina, La Catrina (Special Day of the Dead) and Koatí.
