Anna Gordon, EVP and managing director at BBC Worldwide Latin America & U.S. Hispanic
BBC Worldwide Latin America/US Hispanic made the decision of closing their pay TV channel business (BBC Entertainment, CBeebies and BBC Earth) in Latin America as of April.
Instead of their signals in the region, the company will migrate towards multiplatform content distribution better aligned with the entrepreneurial needs and goals of open TV companies, pay TV clients and OTT digital platforms in the region.
CBeebies will continue operating as a linear channel, an OTT offer and app dedicated to US Hispanic. For Latin America, only the CBeebies app will continue working.
Property of BBC Global News Ltd, the BBC World News channel will not be affected by these changes and will continue reaching the audience in the entire region.
“We think this decision will help us take the best premium TV worldwide to a broader audience and to consolidate our businesses in the region. Our regional strategy has recently enjoyed significant success, with the establishment of important content and format distribution agreements.
