Azteca: With La Teniente we’d like to produce a show like NCIS and Criminal Minds

October 2, 2012

Rodrigo Fernández, director of Azteca 7

Rodrigo Fernández, director of Azteca 7, spoke to PRODU about the new series La Teniente, which made its debut Sept. 24 at 10:30pm. The show will take on storylines similar to certain crime dramas in the U.S. “The series consists of 24 episodes, and what we’re trying to do is be somewhat like the traditional American series that we’ve seen in Mexico, like NCIS and Criminal Minds, in which every episode starts and ends the same day” assured the executive. Fernández emphasized the objective of the network, that being to continue with the original production as they’ve done with other projects like La Isla, “which for the first time we’re outsourcing, but La Teniente is the most important production we have this year”. Finally, Fernández left open the possibility of having a second season, although “we are evaluating other stories, our team of writers have presented us with a second season, but we still aren’t sure if they’ll be produced”.
