Azteca America: Shows involving the paranormal are working well for us

November 9, 2012

Marlene Braga, VP of Programming of Azteca America

Shows involving the paranormal or the supernatural are doing really well in terms of ratings for Azteca America, Marlene Braga, VP of Programming for the network told PRODU. “We’re developing a new concept: a paranormal series, because we’ve done really well with Extranormal. It’s about a popular character, one not only in Mexico but also in the U.S., El Vamipiro, which will be the protagonist of a series based on urban legends in the U.S.” Braga said. The new series will be launched no later than the first trimester of 2013 on Azteca America. Braga also indicated that the network’s schedule for reality shows has functioned really well, and has demonstrated that the genre really likes the Hispanics in the U.S. “We’ve done really well with our schedule of reality shows at 8pm, not only emphasizing that timeslot as the reality hour on Azteca America, but using it as an example of our vision of juxtaposing our series against all the competition that continues growing” he indicated. She added that the network will continue to count on the reality shows, and that in 2013, the second season of Quiero ser grupero will incorporate a tour through certain cities in the U.S. The executive also mentioned a second edition of La Isla.
