The format ¡Lights, Phone, Action! (15×60’) that Azteca America acquired from VIP 2000 TV, the original reality competition Al Ritmo del Boxeo (60’), the game show Mi Pareja Puede (60’) produced by TV Azteca from a Spiral format and TV Azteca´s thriller series, Más Allá del Miedo (26×60’) were the new shows that Margarita Black, Programming VP at Azteca America, presented at the Upfront.
Black highlighted that the network´s programming strategy is based on counterprogramming, the seven-year agreement with TV Azteca (a PLA special) that guarantees quality content and acquisitions.
She also announced they will have the Miss USA and Miss Universe pageants, as well as the 1-hour content, Camino a La Corona. The specials they will have include El Grito, Mañanitas a la Virgen, and Live desde NY to receive the new year.
“¡Lights, Phone, Action! is a very original format. I haven´t seen anything like this in the market. Participants will be chosen from all over the US, they are aspiring directors and producers. We are evaluating the possibility of granting as a prize a scholarship in this area,” explained Black. The production would begin in September.
All these new shows would launch in 2019, with the exception of Más Allá del Miedo that would debut in July.
“For Al Ritmo del Boxeo we want to create a championship and follow the lives of these 12 contestants” she explains.
