Discovery Networks Latin America/U.S. Hispanic (DLA/USH) announced the appointment for the heads of the content group. Angela Recio Sondon has been named vice president and channel director of the lifestyle network, Bilai Joa Silar has been named vice president and channel director of the factual network, and Claudia Chagüi has been named vice president and channel director of the companys entertainment network, Liv.Over the past several months, having worked more directly with Angie, Bilai and Claudia, I have gotten even closer to the heart of our business — our content. I have decided to modify these executives’ responsibilities to tap into their past and current experience and focus the networks in a more like-minded genre or demographic area Lifestyle, Factual and Entertainment. These groupings will benefit from cross-pollination and create an environment to foster new ideas and perspectives, said Enrique R. Martínez, executive vice president and managing director of DLA/USH.Recio Sondon will lead the lifestyle networks comprised of Discovery Home & Health, Discovery Travel & Living and TLC HD, as well as Discovery Kids.Along those same lines, the factual networks will also be grouped together under the leadership of Bilai Joa Silar, a veteran of Discovery Communications who has worked for both the domestic as well as international sides of the business, and who for the past five years, has successfully led Discovery en Español to the #2 rated Hispanic Pay TV network in prime time. Under her new role, Bilai will oversee: Discovery Channel, Discovery HD Theater, Discovery en Español, Discovery Familia, Animal Planet, Discovery Civilization, Discovery Science and Discovery Turbo.Chagüi, who has also been successfully leading Discovery Home & Health, the leading female lifestyle network in Latin America as well as Discovery Travel & Living, will focus on leading Discovery Communications only general entertainment network in the portfolio, Liv.
