2023 is Andina Link’s 29 edition, a time in which it has managed to become a benchmark for the industry in Latin America. Luz Marina Arango, president of the event, held at Cartagena de Indias from Tuesday the 7th to Thursday the 9th, said that this year they aim to become a meeting place to address the challenges facing the audiovisual industry.

“We have representatives from pay TV, platforms, operators, and other members of the industry so that together we can think about how to face the future. Several talks will be held at the Ibero-American Forum of Convergence and Audiovisual (FICA) to address issues such as the moment that the audiovisual sector in Latin America is going through or the challenges of OTT platforms,” she said.

She pointed out that spaces like Andina Link make them stronger and prepare them for what is to come. “In telecommunications, the world is changing on a daily basis. The pay channels have a huge challenge because the new generations are getting used to new habits when it comes to audiovisual consumption. That is why it is so important for these channels to attend all these events where they learn about market trends, their strengths, and weaknesses.” She highlighted that in Latin America pay television is a very strong player and that is why it is always at the fair.

According to Arango, on just the first day of the fair, Andina Link has exceeded 3,000 attendees, including visitors and exhibitors, and they were expecting a bigger crowd this Wednesday 8 with the kick-off of the trading exhibition. Unlike previous years, the entire event is held at the Las Américas Hotel Convention Center, which has favored spaces for networking.

“We are like a family. There are people who have come to each edition over its 29 years. I want to welcome everyone and thank you for answering the call. We are here to move forward, to connect our countries in Latin America, and contribute to narrowing the digital gap in the region,” she concluded.
