Amazon and Lionsgate have signed an exclusive multiyear agreement under which Lionsgate will deliver a diverse line-up of Hollywood blockbusters to Amazon Prime Video customers across Mexico, Brazil and the rest of Latin America.
The agreement provides for Lionsgate and Summit Entertainment label films to exclusively premiere on Amazon Prime Video following their local theatrical release in the region, further expanding Amazon’s catalog of premium movies.
Under the multiyear agreement, Amazon Prime Video becomes the exclusive long-term streaming home in Latin America for Lionsgate’s portfolio of tentpole films and branded properties; beginning with: John Wick: Chapter 2, the second installment of the action franchise starring Keanu Reeves; the big-budget action movie based on the popular TV series, Saban’s Power Rangers; the sleeper hit The Shack, starring Sam Worthington and Octavia Spencer; and Jigsaw, the latest installment of Saw, the highest-grossing horror franchise in history.
In addition, Prime Video will continue to add new Lionsgate releases, including the breakout sensation Wonder starring Julia Roberts and Owen Wilson, along with an exciting roster of future releases such as the action comedy The Spy Who Dumped Me, starring Mila Kunis and Kate McKinnon, the noir thriller A Simple Favor, featuring Blake Lively and Anna Kendrick, the action-adventure Robin Hood, teaming Jamie Foxx and Taron Egerton, and the young adult thriller Chaos Walking, starring Daisy Ridley and Tom Holland.
“Amazon is committed to delivering great movies to our Prime Video members across Latin America,” said Jason Ropell, VP, Worldwide Movies, Amazon Prime Video.
“The complementary strengths of Amazon and Lionsgate, including the innovation of the Prime Video service and the premium quality of Lionsgate content, set this deal apart. Amazon Prime is growing the segment, and we’re excited by this opportunity to grow with them,” commented Lionsgate president of International Television and Digital Distribution Peter Iacono.
