Netflix’s rapid growth in Latin America and the increasing relevance of their original contents are a great opportunity for the director Gary Alazraki from Alazraki Entertainment, who is currently producing Club de Cuervos (13×60′), the first original series in Spanish by this platform, who stated that it is necessary to have quality contents in countries like Mexico.”For Mexico it has been an awaited opportunity and for me even more. When we were in college we all dreamed of making TV shows or films somewhere, though we didn’t know where. But since ten years ago when these series began, which you could see on DVD, it was a film experience that filtered into TV and knowing I am making them means closing a 15 year cycle”, said the director. As for the story, Alazraki highlighted that the intention was to make a universal story, “about brothers fighting for an inheritance and that can generate very global conversations, maybe due to the current division of wealth in the world, which is something that is very present in different countries, with a dramatic contrast. When you direct this type of topic it is fascinating to see how this happens in Mexico, but with a connection around the planet”.Club de Cuervos is a comedy about quarrels in a family that inherits a soccer team and is the same type of humor that could be seen in the film Nosotros los Nobles. The main actors of the series are Luis Gerardo Méndez, Mariana Treviño and Daniel Giménez Cacho, among others.
