The balance of Conecta Fiction & Entertainment is a milestone in the history of the event. With 728 accredited professionals from 31 countries, the sixth edition has become the most numerous to date. Géraldine Gonard, organizer of the event, during the closing press conference, announced that next year they will return to the classic formula of Conecta, with a European and an American country, and the chosen focus countries are: Mexico and Poland with their respective industries, content, and talent. Toledo and the month of June repeat for the seventh edition. “We haven’t stopped watching, listening, and learning” she commented.
Producers, scriptwriters, distributors, TV channels, platforms, talent, and institutions, as well as national and regional offices that support the audiovisual activity, both Spanish and foreign, made possible over 4,000 face-to-face appointments in the Palacio de Congresos El Greco. The event offered participants 17 panels, 10 keynotes, 5 pitching sessions, and 21 activities, including workshops and conversations. The projection of the first episode of Santa Evita, which will arrive at Star+ in July after ten years of production, was one of the most outstanding moments of the event.
The focus country of this edition was Spain, with significant tax incentives in each region and it has experienced professionals and talent to guide and accompany new projects. “It is very important that those considered ‛natural co-producers, Mexico, Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Canada, Chile, and all the European Union countries perceive Spain as a key partner for their projects”.
The General Director of Tourism, Commerce, and Crafts, Ana Isabel Fernández, highlighted the opportunity it has been for Castilla-La Mancha to become the global epicenter of the audiovisual and entertainment industry with the celebration of the sixth edition of Conecta Fiction & Entertainment, that has also become a business space and a common area for experiences abounding in activities, “in which we have had the opportunity to celebrate encounters and meetings with around thirty referential production companies worldwide to continue positioning our region as a cinema scenario”.
