Lifetime has added more than six million homes recently in Brazil by adding Claro Net Brasil, which takes Lifetime to a total average of 56 million homes in the entire region, reported Raúl Costa, general manager of A+E Networks Brazil.
He added that the company brands have increasingly more relevance, proximity with the audience, not only through pay-TV but also all the additional services.
As for original production, Costa announced that for A&E they are planning two original productions; the other three for Lifetime and seven productions that are in development for History.
“At History, we have, for example, two programs related to automobiles, documentaries and the second season of Guía Políticamente Incorrecta. We are also evaluating the possibility of making a Brazilian version of Desafío Sobre Fuego. In the case of Lifetime, the idea is to include local stories as is the case of Pasaporte Femenino and Maravillosas,” he mentioned.
Regarding the OTT business, he commented that they are working close to the operators to expand their offer and relaunched their app and their website.
Brazil is a competitive market in this aspect with a growth in the business of streaming and the arrival of important players such as Apple TV, Amazon, probably next year Disney, as well as Netflix.
“Along with all this, we have a very strong local player that is Globo Play. Likewise in Brazil, TV is still the main device in homes,” he clarified.
