ADN 40: 75% of the Mexican population is informed through TV

During the first day of activities of the Convergencia Show MX, the panel Los Canales de Noticias en México: Posicionamiento y Desarrollo (News Channels in Mexico: Positioning and Development) in which Luciano Pascoe, director of ADN 40, assured the importance of information channels increases as people can consume them on different devices.

“The challenge is to build a news channel that offers people the information they need, taking into account that 75% of the Mexican population is informed through TV and uses this platform to validate the information delivered on others, such as social networks,” he commented.

Roberto Velázquez, director de El Financiero Bloomberg, for his part, highlighted that it is very difficult for companies and brands to advertise their companies and products on news channels; and Francisco Ramírez, news director at TVC Noticias, agreed “it is complicated for restricted TV to get advertisers´ attention. They ask you for ratings that not comparable with those of open TV,”

Finally, Arturo González, general director of News at Telefórmula, said that making a cable TV company profitable is complicated, “brands’ reliability and quality of contents are of vital importance.”
