Mambochella

Adeline Ferro, former-Viacom, returns to the TV industry in a partnership with Ivelin Giro. Together, they created Mambo Babalú, a project to relaunch the famous mambo rhythm, that had its boom in the ’50s. Additionally, they produced the documentary Mambochella, nominated in the “short documentary” category in the NATPE/Omnicultural Festival.

Mambochella, directed by Fabián Cárdenas, is a behind the scenes of the shooting in 2018 of Mambo Babalú`s debut album, I Love Mambo, that presents 12 songs in a tribute to the original Mambo Kings: Pérez Prado, Benny Moré, Tito Puente, Machito, Tito Rodríguez and Cachao López.

This unique meeting gathered under the same roof legendary musicians, main vocalists, and children of the royalty of Cuban music, some of which have not had joint presentations in over 30 years.

Through this documentary, we will meet the producers, artists, and composers that made history through this album, reinventing the genre as we know it. The documentary includes “Cachao” Lopez´s last live interview and presents awarded artists, such as Lucrecia (host of Los Lunnis by Clan TV), Mayito Rivera (former Los Van Van), and Omer Pardillo Cid (manager of Celia Cruz, Cachao, and Lucrecia).

“This is our purpose in life, we wanted a legacy, to leave a mark, something our children would be proud of. We are making an effort to reinvent the new mambo rhythm everyone is talking about since the rebirth of the son of Cuba by the Buena Vista Social Club in the 90’s,” explained Ferro.

“For us it is very important to convey this genuine love for our cultural roots, as well as a deep understanding of the honorable place the age of mambo has in the timeline of Afro-Caribbean music history,” added Giro.
