With 25 years of experience in film, TV, and now on platforms, the Mexican actor Andrés Almeida attended the Guadalajara International Film Festival, where he was a jury in the short film category, and there he spoke about his upcoming projects, including a Christmas movie for ViX, and two more contents for HBO Max, in addition to his search for funding for his debut film that he has been scriptwriting for 10 years.
“For the end of this year, we plan to premiere a Christmas movie on ViX which we just finished. In addition, there are a couple more that will be released in 2024, such as the El Zorro series for Prime Video, which took me eight months to shoot in Spain, and Coyotl for HBO Max, which I am sure will give a lot to talk about,” he mentioned.
In addition to these projects in which he is part of the cast, Almeida assured that for 10 years, he has been preparing the script for his debut film, and despite having registered it three times for the Eficine fiscal stimulus, he has not been able to get the financing. “I hope to find the money to do it because it represents the biggest challenge of my life. I want to continue knocking on doors for something that is where I want to go; I have a lot of things to say as scriptwriter and director, we hope it happens soon.”
To conclude he mentioned that during his visit to the FICG he found great film proposals, and in his role as a jury, he used all his experience within this industry to assess the projects presented, since “these years have helped me understand the ways to address certain deficiencies and solve them in a richer way”.
