The Philippine entertainment company ABS-CBN closed a deal with Cinelatino, the Spanish-language film channel based in Mexico.
Cinelatino has been buying Philippine titles, airing them since 2016. This year they have acquired blockbusters like Unexpectedly Yours, Four Sisters, and a Wedding, She’s Dating a Gangster, Bride for Rent, Always Be My Maybe and Extra Service.
“This agreement is truly relevant for ABS-CBN since it maintains the momentum to enter the Latin American market since the acquisition of Bridges of Love in Peru. Content from ABS-CBN ha res been very well received since then, consequently, it is wise to constantly provide high-quality Philippine content to this market,” said César Díaz, director of 7A Media, the exclusive distributor of ABS-CBN for films in Latin America.
Through Cinelatino, these films produced by Star Cinema will be available in all Latin America as well as in the US and Canada, through its cable, satellite and IPTV services.
“We are truly proud of this achievement at the start of this year and our goal will always be to continuously provide high-caliber programs and films with casts and plots that attract several cultures. We are sure that this will also boost our continuous efforts to introduce new talents on the global stage,” commented Macie Imperial, International Sales Distribution, and Acquisition VP at ABS-CBN.
