2010 FIFA World Cup debuted with big numbers on Univisión

México and South Africa attracted 5.4 million of Total Viewers 2+ on Univisión

Univision Communications Inc., announced that an average audience of 4.0 million (3,997,520) Total Viewers 2+ tuned in to watch its Spanish-language coverage of the 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa on the opening day (Friday June 11, 9:30am-12:09pm), nearly doubling audiences from the first day of the 2006 FIFA World Cup. The opening game alone, between México and South Africa, attracted 5.4 million (5,398,318) Total Viewers 2+ and 3.2 million (3,246,139) viewers among the all important demo of Adults 18-49, beating English-language network ESPN by significant margins (ESPN registered an audience of 2.6 million according to Nielsen’s NPM Fast National ratings).On the second day of Univisión´s coverage, the match between USA and England registered an average audience of 4.1 million Total Viewers 2+ (4,109,961), 2.5 million Adults 18-49 (2,484,133), 1.7 million Persons 12-34 (1,719,019) and 1.4 million Adults 18-34 (1,396,404).To date, Univision is averaging 3.2 million Total Viewers 2+ (3,161,801).
