HBO Latin America announced that they are starting the production of a new fiction series Mil Colmillos, with the Colombian production company Rhayuela Films. The original story by Jaime Osorio and Guillermo Escalona will have 8 one-hour episodes and will be shot in the Amazon jungle.
Paul Drago, director of Original Productions and Operations at HBO Latin America, said: “This year we celebrate 15 years producing original series in the region. For a long time, we have been looking for different stories to tell and after several years of work we found in Mil Colmillos a fascinating story in a world of fiction. The TV viewer will see content that has not been told anywhere, with the seal of HBO, made by Rhayuela”.
Federico Durán, the executive producer of Rhayuela Films, comments that they had traditionally been working on commercials and films, waiting for the ideal project to make the leap to TV. “Mil Colmillos will be a project with the highest production quality, especially in the narrative aspect. The scripts are already written and we will soon start to shoot.”
Mil Colmillos will be shot with Sony F55 cameras in 4K. “We found in these cameras the versatility we need to shoot, not only due to the type of terrain but also because of how practical they are to use in action scenes and those that have constant movement,” adds Durán.
Mil Colmillos tells a mystery story of the elite command of the Army of Colombia, that receives the mission of getting rid of an unknown but powerful leader of a militia of an uncertain origin.
