Telemundo and Google partner to expand the Spanish-language fan experience around the World Cup

Maribel Ramos-Weiner| 7 de junio de 2018

Telemundo and Google announced a partnership that will bring Telemundo’s Spanish-language World Cup content to Google and YouTube for soccer fans across the U.S.

For the first time ever, World Cup fans searching on Google for their favorite teams, matches and scores in Spanish in the U.S. will see close to real-time video highlights from Telemundo Deportes. This includes in-game clips featuring goals, halftime highlights and major moments in the match as well as match previews, winning probabilities, line-ups, and news – all within Google Search.

This World Cup initiative expands on Telemundo’s strategic presence and partnership with YouTube, which includes more than five official channels with more than 14 million subscribers, with three of those surpassing 3 million subscribers each. Telemundo will upload more than 1,000 hours of exclusive content across digital platforms, including content on the official Telemundo YouTube channel.

In addition, the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia games on Telemundo will be offered in markets where YouTube TV is available.

“Partnering with Google to empower fans to easily search and find the best World Cup content and highlights in Spanish available is a true game-changer for Telemundo. Soccer is more exciting in Spanish, and we’re excited to partner with Google and YouTube to make Spanish-language World Cup content accessible in the U.S. within Google Search for the first time,” said Peter Blacker, EVP, Digital and Emerging Business, NBCUniversal Telemundo Enterprises.
