The Mediapro Group appointed famed Argentine film director, screenplay writer, and producer, Daniel Burman, as Head of Content for U.S, Mexico and Central America.
Burman will be based in Miami and will report to the head of Mediapro in the U.S. and the international content directorate in Madrid.
As the industry continues to evolve, Mediapro felt this was the ideal time to join forces with Burman to fill numerous voids in the market while increasing company growth. From Miami, Burman will be responsible for the content and implementing and creating new strategies for growth in the U.S. and Latin American markets.
“The U.S. Hispanic market is going through an enormous transformation. New generations are diverse, bilingual, modern, and more integrated into American society than ever before. We feel this is a great opportunity to address the demands and challenges of this new generation and create more targeted, compelling content that will capture this social change,” said Burman in an exclusive interview with Variety magazine.
Mediapro also aims to increase its business deals with diverse operators. While high-end content is a norm for the U.S. Hispanic market, very few series have been made outside of Netflix; therefore, Mediapro looks forward to establishing new partnerships that allow audiences to discover and enjoy their new content through various providers.
Burman’s new role comes at a time when Mediapro Group is establishing its position as a creative partner of both traditional and innovative new industry players. Over the last years, the company has produced content with Netflix (movie Fe de Etarras, Edha), Amazon Prime Video (soccer documentary series on Manchester City and La Liga) and HBO (The Young Pope). Mediapro is also producing with Fox Networks Group in Spain (Vis-a-Vis, Season 3), DIRECTV Latin America (El Fútbol No Es Así), Finland’s pubcaster YLE (The Paradise) and Sweden’s DramaCorp (The Head), co-owned by Beta.
