A program carriage complaint has been filed by beIN SPORTS against Comcast.

Below is the network’s official position on this matter.

“Due to a discriminatory and patently unfair renewal proposal from Comcast, beIN SPORTS has been forced to take legal action and file a carriage complaint. Comcast has ignored its obligations as a vertically integrated network and favor their own soccer content and another sports-related programming, to the detriment of the beIN services and the audiences we serve.

Comcast has two wholly-owned networks that carry sports programming -NBC Sports and Universo. We have cited a few clear examples of Comcast’s discriminatory behavior in favor of these affiliates:

-Most of the programming is not featured in HD, which is obviously a huge disadvantage for our passionate viewers who want the best sports action viewed with the best possible experience.

-In spite of the popularity of beIN SPORTS, we are not fully distributed but rather relegated to secondary tiers.

-We aren’t authenticated since Comcast doesn’t have beIN SPORTS CONNECT.

-There are roughly 6,000 hours of top-quality beIN SPORTS programming that is not viewable to Comcast subscribers. This is unacceptable and will not stand.

Our priority is and has always been, to provide the most compelling programming, coverage, and analysis to our loyal viewers. We hope Comcast will operate with the same spirit of customer-centric fairness and resolve this issue quickly,” said beIN SPORTS USA in a statement.
