For Aurelio Valcárcel, director of Fiction at Mexico´s Imagen TV, the series Paquita la del Barrio, inspired on the singer´s life, is a sure hit, because, aside from reflecting a great Mexican personality, with her particular position on life and men, the result is a perfect synergy between Sony Pictures Televisión and Imagen TV´s efforts.
“A year and a half ago, friends of Sony put forth this project and we didn’t hesitate a second in saying yes. It is a co-production and a very close work. Although they are in charge of the making, we have advanced shoulder-to-shoulder in reviewing scripts, and taking part in the casting, we watch the episodes and make comments. We are very pleased and want this alliance to be long-term,” he stated.
Paquita la del Barrio will be launched on Tuesday, April 25 at 8pm. The series is shot in Mexico City and music is it´s main element. The cast is includes Andrea Ortega-Lee, who plays the role of Paquita; Erick Chapa, Sofía Garza, Gloria Stalina, Marcia Coutiño, Carlos Espejel and Ariane Pellicer, among others.
The production team on Sony’s side is led by Juan Pablo Posada, Creative and Production VP in Mexico; Andrea Marulanda in the Creative and Production direction; Marcel Ferrer as executive producer; Javier Solar and Camilo Vega, director; Carolina Leconte as Content director and Angélica Guerra in the executive production.
