Grupo Bandeirantes de Comunicação has announced an initiative with Sling TV to provide the channel Bandnews to the visitors of the Brazilian Consulate in Los Angeles to watch real-time Brazilian news while waiting for their appointment.
“We are extremely pleased to have both Sling TV and Bandnews contributing to our goal to serve, educate, promote and encourage the interaction and dialogue amongst visitors to maintain the connection and cultural identity to Brazil,” said Bruno Bath, Consul General of Brazil in Los Angeles.
The waiting room at the location will tune daily to Bandnews, the only 24-hour Portuguese language and Brazilian news channel in the US.
“Our ultimate goal is to provide a reliable, up-to-the minute news source for Brazilians around the world. With this effort, we will expand on that commitment and contribute to the consulate’s service to the Brazilian community in the Los Angeles area,” commented Silvia Saad Jafet, general director Pay TV and International Distribution from Grupo Bandeirantes de Comunicação.
This is the second participating location providing the service, following the Brazilian Consulate in Atlanta. Additional consulates and other community organizations serving the Brazilian population in the US are currently under consideration to be included as part of the program.
Bandnews is available on Sling TV in the Brazil Mega pack.
