El Chapo
Univision Story House announced that its boundary-breaking drama series El Chapo, based on the life story of one of the world’s most notorious criminals, will premiere on Univision Network in April 2017. The series marks the first co-production between Univision Story House and Netflix.
The announcement comes just days following the extradition of Joaquín ‘El Chapo’ Guzmán to the U.S. where the renowned Mexican drug kingpin faces a sweeping 17-count indictment in connection with his leadership of the Sinaloa Cartel, a Mexican crime syndicate.
“This series pulls back the curtain on one of the most captivating criminals of our time by combining the world-class reporting and insights from Univision News’ investigative team with an outstanding team of talented storytellers and producers. We are thrilled to be partnering with Netflix to share this boundary-breaking new series with a global audience,” said Camila Jiménez Villa, who oversees Univision Story House in her role as president and Chief Content Officer of Fusion Media Group.
