My Life is a Telenovela (8×60’), a reality show that aired on the Anglo signal WEtv since October, which ended Friday December 2 in the US, presents an entirely Latino cast with a plot that revolves around the lives of Hispanic actors and actresses.
“It isn´t my first reality show, however, it is the first reality show I am in, as I continue my life as an actress. It is 100% in English, with renowned Latino talent in the US Hispanic market. For decades, we have reached the homes of 50 million Latinos in the US. I think this is truly powerful, and for the first time, we are taking that power and knowledge into the Anglo market. I am very grateful with WEtv for having taken that risk and I think the market is ready for that,” expressed Sissi Fleitas, one of the stars of My Life is a Telenovela, who admits that reality TV is replacing telenovelas, both in English and in Spanish.
Along with Fleitas, the main cast of the reality show includes María ‘Raquenel’ Portillo, Gustavo Pedraza, Enrique Sapene, Alina Robert and Liliana Rodríguez Morillo. The production Company is Matador and the executive producers are Jay Peterson, Todd Lubin, Jerry Carita and Megan Sánchez-Warner. The executive producers from WEtv are Lauren Gellert and Suzanne Gladstone Murch.
For Raquenel, the show is a double experience, since it depicts them as talented Hispanic actors and at the same time presents their everyday life. She mentioned that, thanks to Telemundo, they were able to use the ‘behind the scenes’ of Eva la Trailera.
For his part, Enrique Sapene said that it is a “very fun” reality show.
