Tlatelolco, Summer of 68 is directed by Carlos Bolado

Cinelatino will air the exclusive US premiere of Tlatelolco, Summer of 68, on Sunday, October 2, with back-to-back showings at 9pm and 11pm.

This Sunday marks the 48th anniversary of the tragic Tlatelolco massacre.

The movie tells the story of two students from different social classes who fall in love during one of the most controversial social and political conflicts in the history of modern Mexico.

While Mexico prepares to host the 1968 Olympics, upper class student Ana Maria (Cassandra Ciangherotti) and working-class classmate Felix (Christian Vazquez) become part of the massive movement of students who take to the streets to protest the government’s authoritarian rule under the PRI.

Directed by filmmaker Carlos Bolado, the film recreates the events that led to the massacre that took place at the Plaza de las Tres Culturas in the Tlatelolco section of Mexico City on October 2, 1968.

“October 2 marks an emotional moment in Mexican history and many of our Mexican viewers still recall the tragic day,” said James M. McNamara, Vice Chairman of Hemisphere Media Group, Inc., Cinelatino’s parent company. “On this national day of mourning in Mexico, we remember the events with the exclusive US premiere of Tlatelolco, Summer of 68.”
