Telemundo launched its new web page Participar es progresar to inform the Hispanic community in the US about the latest news and information about immigration, civic commitment, voters registration, local community events, and to deliver the most relevant immigration stories. The portal is available in English and Spanish. “Immigration is a crucial topic for the growth and identity of the Hispanic community” said Raquel Egusquiza, Vice President, Community Affairs, Hispanic Enterprises & Content at NBCUniversal. “With the initiative of Participar es Progresar we are making a commitment to educate Hispanics on the latest immigration news and providing them with resources and tools that can allow them to make well informed decisions.”Users can learn what immigration means to their families, understand President Obama´s executive immigration action and learn what aid resources are available for them. The page includes links to the sites of the Immigration Service and US Citizenship from the Latin American League and the White House´s Immigration website.In the context of the launching of the page, José Díaz-Balart from Telemundo interviewed president Barack Obama in Florida International University, alma mater of most Hispanics in the US. In his statements, the president said he will not give up in his mission to unblock the immigration reform and that he will continue to face the republicans who seek to block his actions.
