Facebook launches Product ads to the market to improve their advertising services

The social network Facebook, announced last February 17th improvements in their advertising service, with new options that will allow businesses to advertise more than one product simultaneously and choose who will receive this information.This new platform, called Product ads, is a tool that allows highlighting different offers in Facebook. The sellers can now upload their product catalogues and direct them according to their target audience. They may even allow Facebook to automatically update the most relevant products for users, based on their interests, geographic location and if they have previously visited the company’s webpage and/or business.The ads can be set to show only one product, as they were traditionally presented, or so that several goods can rotate in a single box. Nevertheless, Product ads is intelligent enough to establish if a certain product is sold out, and eliminate it from the ad.The service seems to be oriented at businesses with broad catalogues, such as furniture or domestic appliances stores. However, as Facebook itself points out, this new way to show products can help to exhibit several characteristics of the same product.It is comprehensible that Facebook is interested in improving their advertising services, taking into account that most of their millionaire profits come from this sector.Information published by Facebook at the end of January showed that out of the US$12,500 it obtained in 2014, more than 92% (US$11,492 millions) came from advertising.
