The new production company Busy Bee Productions (Studio City, California), founded by Chiquis (Janney Marín), singer-songwriter, producer, and businesswoman, together with Sebastián Jiménez, content producer and Richard Bull, entertainment executive, aims to make empowering, authentic, and purposely stories for all Latinos.
“I am excited to launch this project. Since my early childhood, I have liked production and directing. We have many ideas and many things in development. Right now, we are in a docu-follow of my life. For me, it is relevant to tell the story of Latinos and how we live with a little comedy and seriousness. We have scripted and non-scripted projects. I believe some projects have not been done yet, and others that have been done, we can do them differently,” said Chiquis in an interview with Richard Izarra.
Busy Bee Productions has four unscripted and two scripted projects in development. Some will have Chiquis in front of the camera and others behind. “I want to be involved in every aspect of the company, have a lot of presence, it’s something as a team: direct, behind the camera, I want to do a little bit of everything,” she pointed out.
She said the idea of partnering with Sebastián Jiménez came after working together for many years. “We have the same vision of what we want for our community.”
About the objective of her new venture, Chiquis said she wants to show “something real for our people, not only for Mexicans but for all Latinos; the things that belong to us, such as music, how we celebrate, I want to show reality.”
Richard Bull, one of Busy Bee Productions’ co-founders, noted that they are open to different ideas. “But everything under the ethos (distinctive character) of Busy Bee Productions: positive, but entertaining and with the empowerment of Latinas. Drama, but light, good drama.”
