Mexicanal television network, operated by Castalia Communications and the local channel TV4, announced the co-production of the program México 2024, led by journalist Javier Solórzano, with news coverage of the upcoming presidential elections that will take place in June of next year. The broadcast began on April 23 featuring the former Secretary of Tourism, Enrique de la Madrid.
In addition to its broadcast on Mexicanal in the US, the series will be broadcast on TV4 in the state of Guanajuato. It may also be distributed to other public television stations in Mexico and the US.
“We are very pleased to co-produce this series with Mexicanal. With this effort we will be able to offer relevant and useful information both to our viewers in Guanajuato, as well as in Mexico and the US,” said Juan Aguilera, director of TV4 Guanajuato.
The General VP of Mexicanal, Demian Torres-Bohl, said: “With Mexico 2024 we’re complying with our commitment to keeping informed Mexicans living in the US and Canada. We hope this effort serves to encourage voting.”
According to figures from the Institute for Mexicans Abroad, more than 11 million Mexicans in the US can vote. Although the percentage of voters in the 2018 elections was very low, it is estimated that participation will increase in 2024.
