Miguel García, director of International Sales at Atresmedia, highlighted the positive results of the recent production El Novato, with which they seek to close adaptation agreements in different countries. He also announced second seasons Los Protegidos and Cardo.
“Contents such as El Novato have worked well. It is a talk show entertainment format that premiered on Antena 3 weeks ago, where the soccer player Joaquín is joined by different celebrities from Spain that show him other trades that he can pursue after retiring from soccer. It is a program with which we hope to do adaptations in other countries in the region. We believe that there are many football players who could do the local versions,” he commented.
He highlighted the acceptance that contents such as UPA Next, the follow up of Un Paso Adelante, have had. “It is a 15 years old franchise, but now renewed with new actors and keeping the original students now as teachers. It will premiere in the coming months at Atresplayer Spain and we hope it will also debut in the rest of the world.” Adding that they will soon announce sales of this production, as well as others such as Heridas, a title that was promoted at LA Screenings and Mipcom.
Among the upcoming releases of Atresplayer Premium Spain, La Ruta stands out, one of the great bets to close the year: “A series that addresses the electronic music revolution in Spain between the 80s and 90s. It is a Caballo Films’ production.”
Another release is Las Noches de Tefía de Buendía Estudios, addressing the issue of a concentration camp in the Canary Islands for homosexuals and alcoholism problems during the Franco dictatorship.
To conclude, he announced the adaptation of Honor, the Israeli Kvodo format, which became famous with the Showtime version in the US. “We are filming Entre Tierras, an adaptation of La Esposa de La Rai, as well as second seasons of Los Protegidos, El Regreso, now under the name Los Protegidos ADN, and of the series Cardo.”
