The distribution company Cohen Media Group (CMG) announced the launch of El Olvido que Seremos in the US on November 18. It’s a Caracol Televisión film project made by Dago García Producciones and directed by Oscar winner Fernando Trueba.
“We are very happy to arrive in the United States market by the hands of specialists the size of Cohen Media Group, who are making a very strong commitment to this launch. We are sure that the market will give us a great welcome with this film that has proven to be world-class,” said Gonzalo Córdoba, president of Caracol Televisión.
Based on the book of the same name by the author Héctor Abad Faciolince, El Olvido que Seremos tells the life-story of Dr. Héctor Abad Gómez, a prominent doctor and human rights activist in the polarized and violent Medellín of the 1970s. The film was an official selection of the Cannes film festival, it won the Goya Award for Best Ibero-American Film, Platinum Award for Best Ibero-American Fiction Film, Produ 2021 Award for Best Film Released on Platform, among others.
As a prelude to the premiere, a retrospective of director Fernando Trueba was scheduled from November 14 to 17. The Ages of Trueba: From Opera Prima to Memories of My Father will be the concept under which the emeritus director of the New York Film Festival, Richard Peña, will introduce Trueba’s main audiovisual works, including: Belle Epoque, Chico & Rita, Ópera Prima, La Niña de Tus Ojos, Calle 54 and La Artista y La Modelo.
