TelevisaUnivision’s ViX+ will debut next Thursday the 21st with two original productions, one of them is La Mujer del Diablo (The Devil’s Woman), produced by W Studios, led by Patricio Wills, who together with the writer Leonardo Padrón, highlighted the importance of being part of the debut of a streaming platform with a story that has high production values such as being recorded entirely on location.
“At W studios we have been doing great things for a while and La Mujer del Diablo is one of the first series to be on ViX +. It is the first one that we do 100% in Mexico for the platform,” Wills noted and added that it is a melodrama written by Padrón, which marks the beginning of more productions.
For Leonardo Padrón, this series is part of the birth of a platform for the Spanish-speaking market, so they have high expectations of it. “It is an atypical love story, which explores the psychic complexities of love. It is set in natural locations with more than 1,500 extras and a solid cast starring Carolina Miranda and José Ron”.
Acting is one of the main production and distinctive values in this project, considering that it was possible to explore another facet of the actors who came from doing television: “It also mixes a new acting point of view because we bring well-known TV actors to star in a streaming series”.
For Padrón, streaming makes it possible to instill a more honest and direct language “which is more common and closer to reality. Streaming tells us more honest stories.”
For Wills streaming is a complex issue, with ups and downs and companies that grow and others not so much. “But what’s constant is consumption and the viewer decided that this way of consuming content is here to stay, so that being on a new platform and as a production company, is an honor and a historic moment”.
La Mujer del Diablo is produced by Carlos Bardasano and features an elementary school teacher with dreams of leaving her town, but on her path, she will meet a man who will change her life.
