Frank Scheuermann, new senior VP and director of Entertainment Formats at EndemolShine Boomdog, announced that everything is ready to kick off the production of La Casa de los Famosos for Telemundo. “We are very advanced, part of the casting has already been revealed, we are full into rehearsals, and just two weeks before going on air on May 10.” The expectations are high, since they’ve worked to improve last year’s version. The 65 episodes are being produced at the EndemolShine Boomdog studios in Huixquilucan, and have been in pre-production for three months already.
Scheuermann feels happy with his new appointment early last year. “I feel that in this position I’ve a lot to contribute to. My team is amazing, and also I’ve a management team that trusts me and with which we have a very good discussion about television, formats and content. It is the largest non-scripted production company in Mexico, so I am therefore delighted and driven,” he said.
He is responsible for three areas: Physical Production, Development and Current Production. “I’m enchanted by development, which entails breaking down the content and pinpointing the needs of our clients, to develop content that works for them. It is a great challenge to be able to fulfill what the customer needs, understand who they are, what they want, what they like, what works for them, how they decide their programing, how long the episodes should be, what fits within what we have or within what we can develop, to always offer attractive things”. He also pointed out that Banijay’s huge bookstore offers unlimited possibilities, since they have very large formats, which although they have been around for 20 years, are coming back and setting standards, such as Big Brother, MasterChef, Survivor, among others.
Physical Production involves arranging the productions and dealing with the budgets, while Current Production has to do with looking after the production when it takes place. Scheuermann has 15 people under his wing, but the team usually grows with the productions, reaching more than 200 in each production.
“We are currently managing three productions in Mexico. In addition to La Casa de los Famosos, which is about to begin, we’ve Me Caigo de Risa and Tu Cara Me Suena. But there can be five or six productions moving at the same time,” he pointed out.
