VIS closed a first-look agreement with the renowned Ecuadorian screenwriter and writer Catharina Ledeboer to develop fiction, in different genres and formats, series, and films, for Paramount’s portfolio of brands, including Paramount+.
“We have really enjoyed working with Catha over the years and we wish to continue developing even more projects together for our brands at Paramount,” said Federico Cuervo, Head of VIS Americas. “First look deals like this are an essential part of our goal to establish as the leading Spanish-language content production studio.”
“I am excited about the opportunity to continue working with Paramount, where I have felt like a family for ten years,” said Catharina Ledeboer. “I have many stories to tell and my series could not be in a better place,” she concluded.
Catharina Ledeboer studied film and television at the University of Miami. After several successes in Ecuador, such as Emergencia and La Hechicera, she moved to Los Angeles where she worked as a screenwriter on different US projects such as One Life to Live, General Hospital, and Hollywood Heights.
She developed content for children, with highly successful series such as Grachi and Toni La Chef. She later adapted both series in English for Nickelodeon in the US creating Every Witch Way and Talia in the Kitchen. Some of her latest works include the adaptation Vikki RPM and two seasons of the hit Nickelodeon musical series, Club 57, produced by VIS for Nickelodeon. Ledeboer won a PRODU Award and a Nickelodeon’s Kids’ Choice Award Mexico for Club 57 in 2021, and she was also nominated for a Nickelodeon’s Kids’ Choice Award Mexico for Toni La Chef in 2015 and Club 57 in 2020.
