Multiplatform content publisher, First Media, has reinforced its commitment to support operators and families affected during the pandemic by signing distribution deals with additional Latin American partners. This will further expand the Babyfirst (under First Media) network into the region.

The new distributors include Megacable Mexico, Altice Dominican Republic, Cable, and Wireless Panama and also include pan-regional deals with Liberty Media, Cable Plus Uruguay, JR Telecom, and several other operators in Peru.

These additions will join BabyFirst’s current partners in Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean such as Sky Mexico; Totalplay Mexico; Cable and Wireless Caribbean (Curacao, Saint Lucia, Grenada, Jamaica, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Trinidad); Cable Bahamas, Digicel Group and Caribbean Cooperative members.

“We stand in solidarity with operators in support of providing quality early childhood education to children at home and parents affected by the pandemic,” said Babyfirst Latin America managing director, C. Said Schwarz.

The move will make Babyfirst programming available to millions of additional children through Pay-TV partners in neutral Spanish and second audio programming (SAP) in English, thus adding to the 12 other languages Babyfirst currently offers.

The network is also distributed in the United States, Canada, Brazil, and Asian territories, including Malaysia, South Korea, and China.

“We look forward to partnering with even more operators and bringing Babyfirst’s fun and educational programming to as many children as possible in Latin America,” he added.

The network has produced over 90 original shows and produces over 90% of its content in-house, reaching more than 70 million homes in the U.S. and North America, garnering First Media portfolio more than 1.5 billion monthly impressions on social media.

Now, as part of its expansion, Babyfirst is making over 50 hours of video on demand (VOD) content in Spanish and Brazilian Portuguese available on-demand, across OTT platforms and on Preschool Mobile apps in Latin America.

The programmer is also making a block of content available on broadcast and digital broadcast channels targeted at preschoolers.
