First Virtual NALIP Media Summit was successful

According to Ben López, executive director of The National Association of Latino Independent Producers (NALIP), the first NALIP Media Virtual Summit (held from June 25 to 30) was a hit with more than 400 virtual meetings and 40 live sessions and other prerecorded ones. López explained that on previous occasions the summit has been held in Los Angeles, but using the online mechanism, they were able to summon many more executives from the US, Latin America, and Spain.

“To have the opportunity to change rapidly and create a media summit in which we had almost 40 sessions, many of them live, and to have the opportunity to unite all these voices, these perspectives and still advance in NALIP´s mission, has been amazing. The response of the community has given us great strength,” expressed enthusiastically López.

Amidst the summit, the first Mercado Latino de Medios was held, in which 400 virtual meetings to sell content were held, to present profiles of filmmakers, documentalists, content creators to executives.

In collaboration with The Black List, Untitled Latinx Project, Latin Tracking Board, and Remezcla, the summit generated the Latinx TV list for TV projects whose finalists reached a first-option agreement with Hulu and two-month exclusiveness to produce with them.

The winner of the Voces Nuevas short film contest, sponsored by Cine Sony Television and NALIP was revealed. Juan Gil, writer, and director based in Los Angeles on with Super Ma that will debut on the signal in the US during the Month of Hispanic Heritage.
